Vaginal Surgery

About this workshop:
This hands-on workshop will help you hone your vaginal surgery skills with stations using models covering vaginal hysterectomy, sacrospinous fixation/sacrospinous hysteropexy, vNOTES, and colpocleisis. You will work in small groups rotating between each station, to learn tips and tricks from Practitioners who routinely perform these procedures. It will cover patient selection; an introduction to vNOTES, and how this could be introduced to your practice, port placement and gaining entry; tips and tricks for vaginal hysterectomy; suture placement and trouble shooting at time of sacrospinous fixation; and the when and how to perform a colpocleisis. There will also be discussion regarding the use of Arista in vaginal surgery.

About this workshop:
This workshop will provide physicians, trainees, and advanced practice providers with multi-disciplinary treatment options (medical management, sex therapy, and pelvic floor physiotherapy) for patients with sexual dysfunction and pelvic floor disorders. We will also review how pelvic floor reconstructive surgery affects sexual function in patients.
The workshop facilitators will include 2 urogynaecologists, a gynaecological endocrinologist, a clinical psychologist, and a pelvic health physiotherapist

About this workshop:
This workshop is designed to familiarize participants with the basic methodology and clinical uses of pelvic floor imaging using 2D and 3D/4D ultrasound technology. This will include the assessment of sling and mesh implants, and the diagnosis of maternal birth trauma. Live scans will demonstrate common findings and basic technique.
By the end of this workshop, attendees will learn to:
- Understand the basic methodology of transperineal pelvic floor ultrasound imaging.
- Use Pelvic Floor Ultrasound for the evaluation of lower urinary tract and bowel symptoms, including urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, imaging of slings and meshes and obstructed defecation.
- Diagnose maternal birth trauma and understand its epidemiology, aetiology and pathophysiology, clinical significance, prevention and treatment.

This half day Interactive Multidisciplinary Workshop will cover the assessment and management of vulval disorders for the Pelvic Floor Specialist. Our faculty of dermatology, urogynaecology and gynae-oncology subspecialists will guide you through the normal to the benign and help you to recognise the red flags of pre malignant and malignant conditions. In an interactive forum, the team will share tips and tricks of assessment and management including biopsy techniques, and demystify the lotions and potions of vulval care.

Stress incontinence is a common condition and there are multiple surgical procedures with differing outcomes. Following a recent FDA alert, senate enquiry and adverse media publicity; the hitherto gold-standard treatment of mid urethral slings has lost some of its popularity with patients becoming mesh averse, hence the spotlight has shifted to other available treatments. As such, the landscape in surgical management of stress incontinence has undergone significant changes, with the new generation of surgeons lacking sufficient exposure to traditional incontinence procedures. There is a learning curve with all surgical procedures, and it has been found that simulation improves learning and ultimately patient outcomes.
Delegates who participate in this workshop will leave with:
- An understanding of the pathophysiology of female stress incontinence and an evidence-based approach to its management.
- An overview of current treatments (featuring surgical videos/simulation) and focus on the assessment of incontinence and appropriate patient selection.
- This workshop will also look at credentialing, audit and recording outcomes in the Australian context and how this can be applied globally.
This workshop is targeted at fellows and young consultants who are offering incontinence procedures and aims to provide an overview of management of stress urinary incontinence and the practical enhancement of surgical training.

Pessary management is an important skill in the conservative management of pelvic organ prolapse. This half day interactive workshop is designed for all healthcare professionals involved in pessary fitting and assessment, to improve clinical skills and confidence. The workshop will cover clinical assessment of prolapse including levator avulsion injuries, common pathology findings to be aware of, management of pessary complications, as well as the role of nurse specialists and physiotherapists in the management of patients with pessaries.
A hands on practical session with pelvic models and different pessary types as well as the use of case studies will assist with building confidence in the pessary management of vaginal prolapse.

This Robotic Versius/Hybrid Laparoscopy Workshop for Burch Colpo Suspension and Vault Suspension: Sacrocolpopexy & Pectopexy offers a focused exploration of advanced pelvic organ prolapse repair techniques using robotic and hybrid laparoscopic approaches. Emphasis will be placed on anatomical landmarks, procedural steps, and operative tips for Burch colposuspension, sacrocolpopexy, and pectopexy.
The workshop also includes strategies for managing retropubic bleeding and incorporates a colorectal perspective on posterior compartment prolapse, including ventral rectopexy. Designed for surgeons aiming to refine their skills in minimally invasive pelvic reconstructive surgery, this session bridges anatomical insight with robotic and hybrid technique mastery.
By the end of this workshop, attendees will learn to:
- Understand the anatomy of the major constituents of urethral and pelvic organ support represented by the Arceus Tendineus Fascia Pelvis, the paravaginal support, the Levator Ani muscles, the cardinal and uterosacral ligaments and pectineal ligament.
